Burrowing Owl, 20" wide x 25" long, A threatened species due to land development, the use of pesticides and attempts to eradicate the prairie dog which live side by side with burrowing owls. Unlike other owls, burrowing owls are active during the day. They live underground in burrows that have been dug out by small mammals.
